Kylie Kelce had a special reason to recreate Princess Diana's Eagles jacket photo. People in Philadelphia are familiar with Princess Diana’s iconic jacket. She was spotted wearing a Kelly green Philadelphia Eagles jacket, which has remained closely associated with her. 

And the pictures of Princess Diana wearing the jacket soon became iconic. Years later, former Eagles player Jason Kelce’s wife, Kylie Kelce, recreated the memorable picture. However, as Kelce recalled, she would not have recreated the iconic image if it were not for a very special reason.

During Kylie Kelce’s podcast, with Sandra Bullock as a guest, she recalled the moment she recreated Princess Diana’s iconic Eagles photo. Bullock seemed in awe of both Princess Diana’s original picture and Kelce’s recreation in the unmistakable green-and-gray bomber jacket. While calling her own picture embarrassing, Kelce admitted that she would not have recreated the iconic image if it weren’t for a charitable cause.

“They re-released the jacket and it was a limited release,” she recalled. 

“For charity cuz I wouldn't have agreed to it any other way. I recreated the photo with the jacket,” she said.

The replica jacket, recreated by athletic merchandise retailer Mitchell & Ness and signed by Kylie Kelce, sold for $100,000, according to WWD. All proceeds from the auction went to the Eagles Autism Foundation, which supports autism research in Philadelphia and other cities. As for the original jacket’s history, Princess Diana received the custom piece from Eagles then owner Leonard Tose. The team sent her the jacket after she mentioned that her favorite colors were green and gray.

Although the princess did share a love for football, she seemingly had a particular fondness for the colors on the jacket.She was first photographed wearing it in 1991 while picking up her son, Prince Harry, from school. She was later spotted wearing the jacket at Alton Towers and even featured on the cover of People.

Now, recreating the iconic picture has even earned Kelce a nickname from her brother-in-law.

During the Not Gonna Lie podcast, Kylie Kelce did not seem particularly pleased as she recalled getting a bizarre but playful nickname. When Sandra Bullock asked about it, Kelce revealed that she got the nickname after recreating Princess Diana’s famous photo in the Eagles jacket. It was actually Travis Kelce who came up with the nickname during his podcast, New Heights. 

During the episode, Taylor Swift’s husband, Travis Kelce, initially came up with “Princess Kylie,” which was later playfully turned into “Princess Kyana.” Although both Travis and Kylie Kelce may have taken the nickname as a joke, Kylie’s recreation of the iconic picture made the moment even more memorable. In the end, both Kylie Kelce and Princess Diana’s photos were used for a good and noble cause.
