Aaron Paul has shared a heartbreaking Instagram tribute to late Breaking Bad co-star RJ Mitte, and the words he chose are hard to forget. The post landed within days of Hollywood learning of the loss, and Paul held nothing back when he wrote it. The caption pairs an apology with a plea to anyone listening, and together they read like a private conversation made public by someone processing the news.

Aaron Paul shared an Instagram tribute for Breaking Bad co-star RJ Mitte
Aaron Paul has said goodbye to RJ Mitte with an apology and a wish, both written plainly. Mitte played the son of Walter White on the AMC drama Breaking Bad. He died on October 12 at age 34. His cause of death was suicide.
“You have always been an inspiration for so many,” Paul wrote in the caption of his Instagram account.
He then added, “I am so sorry you were hurting my friend. I wish we knew.”

The Instagram post includes a video in which Mitte speaks to the camera about mental health. He urges viewers to stop hiding behind stock replies like fine and to admit when they are not. Paul recalls meeting Mitte as a little boy and watching him grow. Paul kept calling him Superman at their last meeting, praising his kindness and strength. Paul ends by urging anyone feeling lost to speak up.
Grief like this tests anyone, and Paul has also spoken about another heavy burden, one that came with a microphone.
Aaron Paul explains why he left Invincible after the emotional toll of Powerplex
Aaron Paul confirmed in November 2025 that he would not return for the next season of Invincible, closing his run as the voice of Powerplex. He shared the news during an interview on the Kinda Funny Games podcast. The reason was the weight of the part, which Paul described as gruelling on his psyche. He added that he still watched the series closely. Powerplex, in his words, was a man living through turmoil rather than someone messing around.

Powerplex began as an ordinary man who lost his sister and niece during a battle between superheroes, then lost his wife and child. Paul said that voicing this pain, even without a camera, made him live inside the anguish. Around the same time, he took on the lead role in the video game Dispatch, his first major gaming role. Paul walked away from Invincible because the pain of Powerplex weighed too heavily, and his tribute to RJ Mitte now shows how seriously he takes that kind of weight.
