Marvel and Daredevil is a complicated love story where the studio wants to bring the Man Without Fear to the screen for an extended period, but fails to achieve longevity with the story. The recent decision to discontinue Daredevil: Born Again after season 3 stands as a prime example. However, the very first failure with the Red Devil still haunts Marvel and Ben Affleck as well.
Still, many expect to see Affleck’s Daredevil in a cameo appearance in the upcoming Avengers installments. But that will not be possible, as the actor himself has admitted that Kevin Feige has not approached him with any such possibility.

While the actor's days wearing the Cape Crusader are firmly behind him, speculation has frequently swirled in recent years regarding a potential MCU comeback as Daredevil. Interest was only further fueled after his version of the Man Without Fear appeared in concept art for 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine, prompting many fans to wonder if a cameo in an upcoming crossover like Avengers: Secret Wars might be on the horizon.
When directly questioned by Josh Horowitz on his podcast, Happy Sad Confused, about whether Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige had ever reached out to discuss a return as Matt Murdock, Affleck admitted that no such conversation has taken place.
"He hasn't. I wish he would,” Affleck told the host.

Reflecting on his past blockbuster era during the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Affleck noted that he feels he has largely closed the chapter on the comic book genre, admitting he doubts any remaining superhero roles would truly capture his interest. Despite having moved on from that phase of his career, the actor offered high praise for the Marvel chief, expressing deep admiration for his industry foresight.
He singled out Kevin Feige as the only producer in Hollywood who genuinely seems to understand what audiences want to see on screen, putting full trust in his visionary approach.
While he was clearing up the rumors, he also revealed the truth behind the speculation that he was in the running to helm Man of Steel.
Was Ben Affleck really going to direct Man of Steel?
Before he donned the Cape and Cowl and went toe-to-toe against the Son of Krypton, he was supposed to be the one to direct Man of Steel - this is what some of the dark alleys of the internet have been whispering for years. Josh Horowitz finally got the chance to ask the actor himself about the truth behind these rumors. And turns out there is no substance behind the speculation.
"No, I did not meet with them about [Man of Steel]," Affleck confirmed.

Reflecting on his past directorial aspirations, Affleck shared that he had once considered helming a standalone Batman film following his tenure in the role, but ultimately decided it was not the right creative move for him. He noted that looking back on his career, he has not actually turned down very many film opportunities.
Well, the directorial aspirations only grew since then. He is currently promoting his new Netflix film Animals, which he produced, directed, and starred in.
