Arnold Schwarzenegger opens up about his challenging upbringing and the hardships he endured before his rise to fame in a candid interview.

“I was really unhappy”- Arnold Schwarzenegger on the Atrocities of Surviving a World War, Poverty and Tough Parents

Even the legendary icon Arnold Schwarzenegger
[https://www.netflixjunkie.com/tag/arnold-schwarzenegger] has had his fair share
of hardships in life. Despite his multifaceted success, he was not handed a life
of luxury on a silver platter. The actor had to navigate the challenges of life
to ultimately achieve the remarkable status he holds today. As a seven-time Mr.
Olympia champion, a legendary actor, and a sage who imparts wisdom like a
precious commodity, Schwarzenegger’s journey is a testament to resilience and
determination.

The actor, known for his discussions on success and fitness, occasionally
reminisces about his pre-stardom days. In a recent interview, he delved into the
“challenging” life obstacles he faced and how he managed to overcome them.

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER ON HIS ‘CHALLENGES’ OF LIFE

The 76-year-old actor had a challenging childhood with strict parents, a topic
he often discusses. However, when questioned, he revealed how he truly felt
about it and the steps he took to overcome those difficult times. During an
interview on the On Purpose podcast with Jay Shetty, Schwarzenegger admitted, “I
was really unhappy.” While reflecting on his tough upbringing, he acknowledged
that while others enjoyed a good life, he faced poverty and had to contend with
strict parents.

His decision to become a vegan was partly because of their financial
limitations. To escape this harsh reality, he crafted a vision for himself. The
Terminator actor explained that, much like how people read books and watch
movies to immerse themselves in another world, he crafted his very own realm.
This is why he frequently daydreamed while seated in the classroom, a habit that
often earned him scoldings from the teacher. He would gaze at pictures of Mr.
Austria and Mr. Universe, envisioning himself in those very roles.

In his mind’s eye, Schwarzenegger saw himself standing on the grand London
stage, with the crowd cheering and shouting in his honor. This imaginative
escape helped him cope with the harsh realities of life. Nonetheless, he also
shared a moment that was “painful” because of his responsibilities as the
governor.

WHEN THE GOVERNOR’S RESPONSIBILITIES BECAME PAINFUL

Schwarzenegger reflected on the challenges of his time as California’s governor
during the On Purpose podcast interview. He recalled the heartbreak of returning
home to find his kids in tears because of missed family moments caused by his
political duties. Despite his dedication to public service, he had to make tough
choices between his promises to the people and his commitment to his family.

Schwarzenegger praised his former wife, Maria Shriver, for her support and
shared responsibilities. Further, this allowed them to navigate their divorce
with minimal disruption for their children. Shriver even went to a convent

partnerships.
