Ashley St. Clair is choosing truth over money. The author, political commentator, and mother of one of Elon Musk's children is going to be a crucial voice in the upcoming documentary film Musk, directed by Alex Gibney. It will follow the billionaire's rise from a businessman to a massive global political influence.

Based on recent developments, the documentary looks set to feature some explosive tell-all moments, including unfiltered insights from Musk’s former flame, Ashley St. Clair. Ahead of the documentary’s release, Clair confessed to rejecting a handsome sum of money from the tech tycoon to be truthful.

Ashley St. Clair appeared at the Venice Film Festival press conference for Musk, where she detailed a $40 million NDA to “not speak”. This NDA was apparently offered to her after she gave birth to Elon Musk’s 13th child last year.

“I want to set the example for my kids that you should never take being materially comfortable over speaking the truth," the Elephants Are Not Birds author said.

“I hope the risk that I’m taking now in speaking out and trying to fight back at least helps a little bit,” Clair added during the conference.

In her statement, St. Clair also expressed her regret for following conservative right-wing ideologies in the past.

“I got involved with Republican politics when I was 18 after I met Charlie Kirk, and there was an air of ignorance,” stated the influencer.

Gibney kicked off production on Musk in 2023, and by the time he spoke about it, he was “many months” into production. The documentary film is slated to theatrically release in the United States by Bleecker Street on October 16.

The relationship between Ashley St. Clair and Elon Musk evolved from an initial agreement in 2023 to a public dispute following the birth of their son. They reportedly connected over a meme on X after Musk slid into her DMs. However, Musk's behavior changed towards Clair once she got pregnant, which she herself disclosed during an interview with The New York Post in February 2025.

Musk allegedly offered her an upfront payout of $15 million plus $100,000 monthly in child support to sign a non-disclosure agreement, followed by a $40 million NDA, which she also rejected to avoid being silenced or controlled. Following her refusal to sign the NDA, Musk allegedly cut her child support by 60%, forcing her to sell her Tesla to maintain financial stability.
