Savannah Guthrie got completely distracted by an adorable baby during Thursday's Today show. The broadcast began like any other, with forecasts and banter in a studio full of people running on coffee. Then a tiny visitor arrived, and the usual script politely left the building. The guest never said a word, yet he redirected the whole morning. By the end of the hour, nobody on the panel remembered the rundown.

Before the baby fever cools, here is how a snoozing infant managed to upstage a forecast and win over an entire Today panel.

How baby Willie stole the spotlight on the Today show

Savannah Guthrie fell for 4-month-old Willie and was in no hurry to hand him back. The baby had dozed off during the forecast from Al Roker, then earned a seat in Studio 1A.

"No, this is just a perfect little baby," Guthrie replied, to which Craig Melvin praised her baby-holding skills.

She told his parents, "You have crushed it. Drop the mic, mom and dad, this is a great baby. I may never let him go."

The sleepy cameo began when Melvin teased that the forecast from Roker was less compelling than usual, as the camera cut to Willie snoozing in his mother's arms outside the Today Plaza. Roker credited his own soothing voice. Later, Carson Daly tried to wake the baby during the PopStart Sneak Peek segment, and Willie popped his eyes open on cue. He left with a Today onesie and a button, which beats most guest gifts.

While Willie napped in the hearts of the Today panel, a far darker pair of baby stories is streaming on Netflix.

Stolen baby documentary on Netflix

Savannah Guthrie was only joking about keeping Willie, but the idea of a stolen baby has a very real home on Netflix. Maternal Instinct premiered on June 12, 2026, and Jessica Dimmock directed it for Story Syndicate. The documentary follows the case of Taylor Parker, who k***** a young mother to steal her unborn child. It relies on real interviews and police evidence rather than actors, which keeps the tone grim and factual.

Viewers who prefer drama over interviews can try Stolen Baby: The M***** of Heidi Broussard, which reached Netflix on April 17, 2026, after airing on Lifetime in September 2023. Michelle Ouellet directed the scripted film, and it recreates the crime of Magen Fieramusca, who is serving 55 years in Texas. Parker sits on death row in the same state. So yes, a stolen baby documentary is streaming on Netflix, but Guthrie's farewell to Willie ended with a Today onesie, a handover to his parents, and a very reluctant wave.
