In a recent interview with Wall Street Journal Magazine, Colman Domingo addressed the confusion surrounding his previous comments about Paris Jackson in context to her involvement in the film Michael. He clarified that his original words were taken out of context and that the publication (PEOPLE) eventually updated the article to reflect his true meaning.
"I hope that she eventually loves the tribute that we made about her father", Domingo stated to WSJ. The actor remains hopeful that the final product will serve as a meaningful tribute to the legendary musician.
To mend fences, Colman Domingo reached out to Paris Jackson directly through a message to explain the situation and ensure there was no ill will. He noted that she acknowledged his explanation with a heart, indicating that the tension had significantly cooled between them.
The history of this public disagreement reveals just how protective Paris Jackson is regarding her father's complicated and monumental legacy.
The source of the social media friction
The conflict began last September when Paris Jackson explicitly denied any involvement in the biopic titled Michael. This public stance came after PEOPLE published that, as per Colman Domingo, she and her brother Prince Jackson were actively supporting the film's development. Paris Jackson took to her Instagram story to set the record straight, expressing confusion over claims that she assisted on the movie set.
She revealed that she had read an early script draft but walked away when her concerns about its accuracy were ignored.
“I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest and didn’t sit right with me, and when they didn’t address it, I moved on with my life,” Paris Jackson wrote in her Instagram story.

"Not my monkeys, not my circus", her response was blunt in her Instagram story, using the phrase to distance herself from the Hollywood production. While she wished the cast well, and has now apparently shown acceptance of Colman Domingo's including her in the biopic's making, she also made it clear that the filmmakers never addressed her notes on what felt dishonest. The resolution of this digital dispute highlights the thin line between cinematic storytelling and the lived reality of a family legacy.
