But Dakota Johnson never got that memo. Instead, the actress has turned distancing herself from her infamous superhero misfire, Madame Web, into a masterclass in candid, deadpan humor.

Rather than hiding from the film's rocky legacy, Johnson continues to lean into the chaos with refreshing transparency, treating her own blockbuster flop as prime comedic material and winning over the internet one brutally honest remark at a time.

The most recent one involves the actress outright claiming that she does not remember making that movie.

While promoting her upcoming horror film Verity alongside Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson found herself once again fielding questions about her notorious superhero misfire, Madame Web. Actually, while promoting their new movie, the cast of Verity found themselves playing a very interesting game with Movie LUTs, where the actress eventually found herself encountering her 2024 superhero movie once again.

“I don’t remember that movie,” is what Johnson said after failing to guess the movie by its color scheme.  

Rather than offering a fresh perspective on the Movie LUTs interview, Johnson simply brushed it off with a deadpan claim that she has no memory of the film whatsoever - a remark that quickly went viral and added another chapter to her famous history of hilariously blunt responses about the project.

The quip mirrors a strategy Johnson has leaned on ever since the movie dropped in 2024. During interview rounds for Madame Web back in February 2024, Johnson casually told BuzzFeed UK that she had not even seen the movie yet, while later roasting the movie brutally on Saturday Night Live.

Notably, the Materialists star has not only taken digs at the movie over the years, but also offered a comprehensive explanation on why the movie turned out the way it did.  

Beyond dodging the film with humor, Dakota Johnson has previously opened up about the studio pressures that warped the final product, pointing out how drastically a project can change from the initial pitch to the final cut. During those same press rounds, she admitted that the widespread backlash was not entirely unexpected, noting that she understood the critical response from viewers. 

Released in 2024 and directed by S.J. Clarkson, Madame Web starred Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O’Connor alongside Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a New York paramedic who unlocks clairvoyant abilities to shield three young women from a lethal adversary played by Tahar Rahim. Anyhow, the current jab is just another entertaining Dakota Johnson special on her one an only Marvel experience so far.
