Jada Pinkett Smith gets all raw on her journey from the depths of despair to the dawn of hope as she opens up about her struggles on Instagram

“I could feel myself losing my grip”- Jada Pinkett Smith Shares Her Darkness to Dawn Story on Instagram

Do not judge a book by its cover, they say. And in the glamorous world of
celebrities, that saying could not be truer. Behind the glitz and glamour, Jada
Pinkett Smith [https://www.netflixjunkie.com/tag/jada-pinkett-smith/] lived
through her own rollercoaster of emotions. From battling the blues with magic
mushrooms to weathering the storm of depression, she spilled the beans in her
memoir, Worthy, baring it all like an open book.

Moreover, magic mushrooms were not the sole lifeline that helped her through
those tough times. She also revealed another beacon of hope that guided her
through the darkness, but even that had its own share of thorns in the bouquet.

JADA PINKETT SMITH SHARES HER ‘LIGHT IN THE DARK’ STORY

Jada Pinkett Smith indeed had a story worth putting down in her autobiography,
Worthy. Her journey from Baltimore’s rough streets to superstar family life was
a wild ride. However, when it came to her relentless battle with chronic
PTSD-induced, seemingly insurmountable depression, it was her children who
became her guiding light. But, as she shared an excerpt from the memoir on her
Instagram story,
[https://www.instagram.com/stories/jadapinkettsmith/3207779321967901046/] she
once felt like she was slipping through her fingers, quoting, “I could sense
myself losing my grip of connection to them”.

At the age of 40, Smith reached her lowest point, sinking into a chronic and
seemingly insurmountable depression. Her children, including Tay, Will Smith
[https://www.netflixjunkie.com/tag/will-smith/]‘s son from his first marriage to
Sheree Zampino, provided some comfort, but there came a time when even they
could not fill the void. It was as if she was a puzzle with missing pieces, a
ship adrift without a compass. The host of Red Table Talks had to wear a mask of
smiles for a grueling two decades.

Smith went to great lengths to address her problems. She ventured into the realm
of magic mushrooms, fighting her crippling depression head-on. The actress even
took her family on a journey into the world of psychedelics.

SMITH’S UNNATURAL ESCAPES UNRAVELED

Actor Jaden Smith spoke at the Psychedelic Science conference, revealing that
his mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, was the first in their family to explore
psychedelics. He shared how this exploration had deepened his empathy,
particularly for his siblings, leading to more profound connections. He
acknowledged the past squabbles and fights he had had with his sister Willow
Smith [https://www.netflixjunkie.com/tag/willow-smith/] and his half-brother
Trey. Later, he emphasized how these mind-expanding journeys had allowed him to
have an understanding of them.

Post the revelation, the Bad Moms actress mentioned that her upcoming memoir,
Worthy, will shed light on their journey.

The family had previously discussed their experiences with psychedelics on Red
Table Talk, where Smith highlighted the benefits of these substances in
addressing her long-standing battle with depression.
