Tom Cruise's first-ever stunt was perhaps at the age of two and a half. He is known as the daredevil of Hollywood, and for good reason. While the actor has taken on countless roles over the years, he is perhaps best known for performing his own jaw-dropping stunts.

The scene from Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, where he is seen dangling from the side of a plane, still baffles audiences, who watch it with their jaws dropped. However, the actor began showing signs of being a daredevil quite early in his life. Cruise showed his adventurous streak when he was just two and a half years old, nearly giving his mother and neighbor a scare with one of his earliest stunts.

Tom Cruise recently joined Travis and Jason Kelce for an interview on the New Heights podcast. During the conversation, the actor opened up about his love for performing his own stunts. He revealed that his passion for stunts began quite early in his life, recalling an incident from when he was just two and a half years old.

“I was a little kid and I opened the window and I climbed it out on the roof and I'm like two and a half, three years old,” he said. 

He further added, "The neighbor called was like I think there's a child and my mom was like, 'Oh my goodness, honey.'"

His motivation for climbing onto the roof was simply to see the stars. During the New Heights Podcast, he further spoke about his fascination with wind and motion. He recalled that the first time he boarded an airplane, at the age of five, he wondered what it would be like to be out there on the wings. Decades later, an adult Cruise has gone on to perform several stunts involving planes.

While many people might feel a sense of fear watching his stunts, the actor has a unique perspective on fear.

Tom Cruise has often taken on scary challenges and bold, physics-defying stunts throughout his career. While fans hold their breath watching the legend perform these stunts, the actor often makes them look completely effortless. However, it is not that he does not feel fear. Instead, Cruise has a unique approach to the emotion. 

“It's not like I'm not afraid. I do not mind the feeling,” Cruise told GQ.

That mindset may explain why he has continued to push his limits and set new bars with his stunts. He famously climbed the Burj Khalifa for Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and performed a motorcycle stunt for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, and many more throughout his career. Even at this stage of his career, Cruise continues to seek out new challenges.
