Robert Pattinson is amazed that Twilight continues to captivate new generations of fans, years after he first stepped into Edward Cullen’s shoes. The vampire romance that turned him into a global star has outlived its original theatrical run. It has, in fact, found fresh audiences well beyond the franchise’s early-2000s heyday.

For an actor who has since ventured into everything from independent psychological dramas to superhero blockbusters, the enduring fascination with his teenage heartthrob era remains a story of its own.

Speaking to the Associated Press (AP), Robert Pattinson expressed his amazement at the Twilight franchise’s consistent hype. Its ability to win over successive generations of viewers has had Pattinson admit that its thriving popularity remains difficult to comprehend.

“It’s amazing. I can’t actually believe how many waves of new generations being so into it, it’s wonderful,” the actor said. He also revealed that he would not mind revisiting the films himself.

“I can’t wait to watch them all again. A nice little weekend,” he added.

Pattinson's comment to AP carries a certain charm for anyone who remembers the phenomenon surrounding the first Twilight film in 2008. Adapted from Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling novel, the movie introduced audiences to Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, whose romance unfolded against a backdrop of vampire rivalries, werewolf mythology, and the perpetually overcast town of Forks. Pattinson’s brooding performance became inseparable from the franchise’s identity, even as he later distanced himself from the conventional heartthrob image.

Now, the films have found another life through streaming and online fandom. Younger viewers have rediscovered the saga through social media edits, discussions of its memorable soundtrack, and renewed appreciation for its distinctly late-2000s aesthetic. In October 2026, Twilight also climbed to fifth place on Netflix’s US movie chart, demonstrating that its appeal extends beyond nostalgia alone.

But Twilight’s return to Netflix’s US Top 5 suggests that a new generation is discovering the saga for reasons that go beyond nostalgia. And while Edward Cullen remains the role that introduced Pattinson to millions of fans, the actor has since traded Forks’ supernatural love triangle for one of Gotham’s darkest corners.

From Edward Cullen to Batman, Robert Pattinson has come a long way

While fans continue returning to Forks, Robert Pattinson’s career has moved into considerably different territory. His filmography includes challenging performances in Good Time and The Lighthouse, followed by his portrayal of Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. His willingness to embrace unconventional roles has helped establish a career that reaches far beyond the supernatural romance that first made him famous.

His next major chapter includes Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, scheduled for December 18, 2026, in which he plays Scytale. Meanwhile, The Batman Part II is back in production, with Steven Soderbergh stepping in to help complete principal photography while Reeves remains involved in finishing his vision for the film. The sequel is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 18, 2028.

Pattinson may have traded Edward Cullen’s sparkling skin for Gotham’s dark streets, but his connection to Twilight remains remarkably enduring.
