Jeremy Strong is set to portray Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Reckoning, one of several major names headlining the project alongside Mikey Madison and Jeffrey Allen White. Strong’s casting has naturally drawn the most attention, given Zuckerberg’s infamous public profile. However, the actor has made clear that he intends to approach the tech mogul with seriousness, respect, and without bias, as revealed in a letter he wrote to Zuckerberg.

That approach becomes even more intriguing because Strong did not simply discuss his intentions; he actually revealed what he wrote to Zuckerberg before taking on the role.

Jeremy Strong knows that portraying Mark Zuckerberg in i comes with considerable baggage, but he appears determined not to let it define his performance. Speaking to GQ Magazine, the actor acknowledged the scrutiny surrounding the Facebook CEO, comparing his challenge to Sebastian Stan playing the United States President and Jeremy Allen White portraying Bruce Springsteen.

“Just to say that I take this responsibility very seriously, and the veracity of it seriously, and I’m approaching it with respect,” the actor said. Strong explained that this was the message behind an email he sent to Zuckerberg after accepting the role. The Facebook founder responded, although Strong has chosen not to disclose the contents of that reply.

Strong’s comments to GQ Magazine suggest that his preparation will involve more than simply recreating Zuckerberg’s appearance or mannerisms. He wants to understand the person he is portraying without allowing public opinion to dictate the performance. For Strong, the challenge lies in committing fully to the role while resisting the urge to condemn his character.

Eisenberg’s performance in The Social Network became one of the film’s defining elements, with his rapid-fire delivery, detached demeanor, and tightly controlled intensity shaping a distinctive version of the Facebook founder. Ultimately, Jeremy Strong’s decision to approach Mark Zuckerberg with seriousness, respect, and without predetermined judgment sets his portrayal apart from Jesse Eisenberg’s earlier interpretation.
