Gary Oldman does not have any official personal social media accounts. He is one of those actors who want to let their work speak for itself rather than engaging with the constant public scrutiny, commentary, and curated validation. But that does not mean he is a complete stranger to the digital world. The British actor recently gave a peek into his social media habits while also revealing his favorite person to follow on social media.
Not just that, he also revealed the one famous person he exchanges texts with on social media, who grew up just two miles apart from Oldman in Southeast London.
Gary Oldman reveals the fellow British icon he frequently texts
Gary Oldman, while speaking on the CNN and Variety Live Red Carpet at the Emmy Awards, recently shared that although he does not have an official account, he does lurk around on social media.
"I am a lurker. I am in the shadows," said Oldman.
He also shared that his wife is his most favorite person to follow on social media since she posts "very good stuff". Oldman then dropped Daniel Day-Lewis' name as the most famous person he texts on social media, which even surprised the interviewers, considering their intense professional overlaps that would normally breed rivalry rather than a close bond.

In the 1980s, both men were grouped together as members of the Brit Pack as they frequently competed for the exact same career-defining roles. They even auditioned against one another constantly, and the iconic breakout role in My Beautiful Laundrette was famously handed from Oldman to Day-Lewis. Nonetheless, it seems the two Oscar-winning actors never let it sour their mutual respect, even though Oldman may not even remember where his Oscar is anymore, as he shared during the same chat with Variety X CNN.
Gary Oldman revealed on the red carpet that he does not remember where he put the statuette he won in 2018.
Gary Oldman may have lost his Oscar
Gary Oldman has not seen his Oscar for a while, or so he told Variety and CNN on the red carpet. The Harry Potter star with big hopes for the series adaptation has earned three Best Actor Oscar nominations throughout his storied career, and finally took one home in 2018 for Darkest Hour, and then forgot where he kept it at home.
"Might be in a cupboard somewhere," he quipped.

Oldman, nonetheless, clarified that he probably has not lost his Oscar but he still needs to look and "dig it out". Meanwhile, his apparent texting buddy Daniel Day-Lewis is still the only man in cinematic history to have won the Academy Award for Best Actor three times.
