The Confidential Assignment franchise is back in the spotlight, with rumors swirling that production company JK Film has Confidential Assignment 3 in the works. The film is currently titled Confidential Assignment: The Final. While the cast is not confirmed yet, the same actors could return to reprise their roles.
“We are preparing for production, and the script development is nearing completion. We are planning to reach out to the original cast,” the company representative’s statement read.
Confidential Assignment follows Hyun Bin as North Korean detective Lim Cheol-ryung and (Exhuma) Yoo Hae-jin as South Korean detective Kang Jin-tae, as the two join hands for an investigation. Its success in 2017 was followed by its sequel, Confidential Assignment 2: International. The second movie also performed well at the box office, earning around US$54.5 million.
As for the cast, Lim Yoona appeared in both films, with more screentime in the sequel. Daniel Henney had also joined the cast for the second installment. With a third movie currently in the works, it remains to be seen if the entire cast could return.
There is still plenty of time before a third installment of the Confidential Assignment franchise takes shape. Until then, there are several action thrillers to keep fans and movie enthusiasts intrigued.
One such is a gem starring actor and filmmaker Gerard Butler. The movie recently found a new life on a streaming platform.
