His controversial life has inspired multiple documentaries and even several series, including the Netflix crime drama Narcos, which chronicled his rise and fall. Another recent project to shine a light on someone closely related to his story is IMPACT x Nightline: Raised By Killers: Growing Up Escobar.

Apart from IMPACT x Nightline – Raised By Killers: Growing Up Escobar, Hulu also hosts the series Dear Killer Nannies.

What is Dear Killer Nannies?

Dear Killer Nannies is a series inspired by the life of Sebastián Marroquín, the son of infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar. Unlike other dramas which focus on Escobar's life and profession, the show focuses on Sebastián’s childhood and the emotional trauma of growing up surrounded by violence. It explores how he slowly realized that his father was one of the world’s most feared criminals.

“Our focus wasn’t on drug trafficking; it was on this kid. It’s not about Pablo Escobar – it’s about his son. He’s slowly realizing that what he thinks is normal really isn’t, and that his dad is one of the worst criminals in the world. Imagine realizing your dad is Pablo Escobar. It’s so bizarre!” Sebastián Ortega said.

The series also highlights his struggle with guilt, fear, and the burden of carrying the Escobar name after his father’s death. Co-created by Sebastián Ortega, the show presents the story through the eyes of a child rather than glorifying the drug trade. John Leguizamo stars as Pablo Escobar in the emotional Disney+ and Hulu drama.
