By now, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are inseparable from their iconic portrayals of Wolverine and Deadpool in comic book lore. Fans have seldom entertained the idea of anyone else embodying these roles, given their skillful performances infused with a keen sense of humor. Yet, there has always been intense scrutiny over how closely they match the physical attributes of these characters, and now even more.

As anticipation builds for their joint venture in the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine, the question that mobs every mind is: who more accurately fits the bill in terms of height - Jackman or Reynolds?

Hugh Jackman has been synonymous with Wolverine for years, having portrayed the character in almost every film iteration. As both a beloved character and actor, there has been an ongoing debate about how well Jackman's physical appearance aligns with the comic book depiction of Wolverine. However, the reality is that Jackman stands tall at 6 feet 3 inches, whereas Wolverine, according to the comics, is a compact 5 feet 3 inches.

In a 2017 conversation with Empire, Roy Thomas revealed that his creation of Wolverine was not driven by the desire to conform to the typical superhero archetype. Instead, he envisioned a character who was small in stature yet fierce, known for taking on adversaries much larger than himself. Despite this vision, the cinematic portrayal of Wolverine by Hugh Jackman deviated significantly from the character's physical attributes in the comics, with Jackman being a foot taller than the traditional depiction.

Yet, since Reynolds and Jackman are set to helm the priority-tagged MCU release of the year, now the question also turns to the Deadpool actor.

Like Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds has also become inseparable from the Deadpool character, sparking ongoing discussions about their physical fidelity to the comic book depictions. However, unlike Jackman's Wolverine, which diverges significantly from the character's physical description in the comics, Reynolds aligns closely with Deadpool's stature, as both the actor and the character are 6 feet 2 inches tall.

Reynolds' height and athletic physique make him a more faithful representation of the character as envisioned in the comics compared to Jackman's portrayal of Wolverine. But while Reynolds arguably embodies Deadpool with greater accuracy, creators like Roy Thomas, Chris Claremont, and Mark Miller found Jackman to be the fitting choice for Wolverine despite the physical disparities. Thus, although Reynolds may be considered a more precise match for Deadpool in terms of physical attributes, Jackman has earned his approval from the very creators of Wolverine, settling the scores.
