In cinema, achieving success often requires taking a longer, winding path, but once it is attained, there is no looking back. Therefore, for actors, each accomplishment carries profound significance because regardless of the number of accolades, it adds another layer to their achievements. Moreover, what makes such moments even more special is the recognition from their dear ones, and Hugh Jackman seems to have known this well. Hence, following Nicole Kidman’s latest Lifetime Achievement victory, Jackman seized the opportunity to pat the back of his longtime collaborator and co-actor.

Taking to his social, Jackman penned a heartfelt message for Kidman in honor of her latest milestone.

On Sunday, April 28, Nicole Kidman became the first Australian actor to receive an American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement Award. The actress was presented with the prestigious title by Meryl Streep in Hollywood. Following her victory, Hugh Jackman, who has shared the screen with Kidman in Faraway Downs, took to his Instagram story to give his on-screen partner his earnest praise upon her triumph by congratulating Kidman for what he believes was “So richly deserved”.

The duo’s friendship goes way back in the day, and besides their cinematic gene, they have several things in common. Interestingly, both Kidman and Jackman are Australian by their roots and this win marks a share of celebration for their heritage. While their love of cinema ties in with another reason for his sense of pride for his co-actor, their friendship also serves as a rock-solid foundation for Jackman to praise Kidman and her formidable victory.

Speaking of their friendship, it is worth noting that despite only sharing the screen once, their bond remains undeniably strong. While there are several shreds of evidence of this, the most striking one to resurface the memory reminds the instance when Kidman bid a substantial amount on Jackman’s hat once years back.

Actors speak the language of generosity like none other, and especially when the relation is subject to friendship, the language seems more visible than others. Similarly, in 2022, when fans were still unaware of just how close Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman had been, the latter shook the world by making a once-in-a-lifetime bet on her dear friend, Jackman. During Broadway Cares’ Equity Fights Aids charity function, she bid a whopping $100,000 for the X-Men stalwart.

Jackman cheekily reminded Kidman that those were not Australian dollars, while the entire room was left shocked. However, the actress replied, “I love you. I love Broadway. And I love what they do, Broadway Cares”. Setting aside his humor, the Deadpool & Wolverine actor acknowledged her gesture, thanking her friend for over 30 years for her “generosity”. While that year was a testament to Kidman’s token of appreciation for Jackman, this year, her Lifetime Achievement victory bore witness to Jackman’s nod of affection for the star.
