Paul Rudd once admitted to feeling indifferent from the cast of Friends while playing his role as Phoebe's Crap Bag, Mike Hannigan.

How Friends’ Famous ‘Crap Bag’ Paul Rudd Opened Up to Chris Evans About His Time Working on The Legendary Show

Paul Rudd, Hollywood’s one of those rarest actors who ages backward, once
appeared as Crap Bag in the ’90s sitcom Friends. Portraying Phoebe Buffay’s
(Lisa Kudrow) on-screen husband, Mike Hannigan, Rudd instantly became a favorite
among fans. Mike defended Phoebe and her weirdness in front of his parents and
never tried to change her. In fact, he became more open and himself throughout
his relationship with Phoebe.

While Mike slowly became an inseparable part of the group, the Ant-Man actor’s
feelings differed from his character.

CRAP BAG FROM FRIENDS, PAUL RUDD, ONCE SPILLED THE TEA ABOUT HIS TRUE FEELINGS

MCU’s Ant-Man once had an interesting conversation with Captain America, Chris
Evans on Variety’s Actors on Actors in 2020. During their conversation, Rudd
made an astonishing revelation about his role in Friends. He said, “I felt, ‘I’m
like a prop on this show.” The show, the ending of which has surprising facts
behind it

mainly revolved around the main 6 characters, which made the actor feel like it
was not about Mike Hannigan.

His feeling sidelined did not mean he was not happy to be a part of the sitcom.
The 55-year-old actor admitted he felt lucky to be a part of something that had
a “profound impact on pop culture.” Although he did not sign up for more than 2
episodes, he became a regular eventually. Thanks to the writers, fans got a
satisfied and much-needed happy ending to Phoebe’s love life.

Rudd’s Crap Bag impression took a new turn when he became MCU’s Ant-Man
alongside some huge names like Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth,
and many more. Just like his experience in the NBC sitcom, the Sexiest Man Alive
title winner’s Marvel experience was also interesting.

PAUL RUDD’S MARVELOUS EXPERIENCE IN THE MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE

The Clueless actor’s experience with the MCU was a little harder as it brought a
lot of pressure to it. The cast was bigger than that of Friends and with each
film; he felt the need to be better than before. The American actor said the
pressure increased with each film because he did “not want to be the weak link.”
Moreover, the character’s low popularity among the viewers added more to his
nervousness.

People would ask him what Ant-Man could do and he would have to explain his
character’s abilities. Despite being less famous, Paul Rudd’s representation
made Ant-Man one of the most loved characters among fans. The This is 40 actor’s
ability to embody the characters accurately and make them memorable is
commendable as he proved it with Ant-Man, Mike Hannigan the ‘Crap Bag’ and his
other characters.
