Arnold Schwarzenegger is the only actor who can shed for a movie and then win a bodybuilding award. The actor has managed to not only achieve his American but also Hollywood dream to be where he is today. Right from holding the record for Mr. Olympia to giving out successful hits, he has been an inspiration for many. But even his success has not gone without some criticism.

The Former Governor of California has been one of the many people who started with one career and moved to another one. Although he managed to team it with his acting skills as well. His bodybuilding success helped him gain movie roles, however, the vice versa was not very well received.

Arnold Schwarzenegger undoubtedly gained a massive fanbase through the years, but did one of his jobs favor his another one? Back in 1982, he was cast in a movie called Conan, The Barbarian. According to a YouTube shorts video, the actor decided to retire from bodybuilding in 1975. But the 1982 movie required him to shred some of his muscles for the roles since he was ‘too bulky’ for it. He once revealed how the movie’s director and co-writer, John Milius, asked him to cut down on the competitive build.

It was normal for actors to change their bodies for their roles. But it was a challenge for the competitive bodybuilder. The actor actually began eating normally. He successfully managed to increase his body fat to 12%. Although, as per CDC, that is still a much lower percentage than the average body proportion of muscles to fat ratio.

By then, he was popular in both of his careers and decided to run for the competition again, winning the title.

The Austrian Oak holds a record for winning the Mr. Olympia title for seven consecutive years. Despite retiring in 1975, he came back in 1980. While he is respected for the win, not everyone was pleased with the choice.

Some felt like his stardom influenced his win and he was not as bulky as before. Regardless, the actor voluntarily called it quits and decided to focus on his acting career. Today, he continues his career in the industry while sharing his knowledge of the field.
