What is more complicated than the political strategies in George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones universe is the Targaryen dynasty itself? Its families. While one might easily spot the Targaryen names being taken through the Game of Thrones spin-offs' main characters and family lineages, the family tree itself can be complex.
With the addition of a new series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, many fans are curious about the characters. So, here is a closer look at how House of the Dragon ties into A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by blood.

Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, played by Emma D’Arcy, and Prince Daemon Targaryen, played by Matt Smith, are the great-great-great-grandparents of Aegon V, better known as Egg. Aegon V (Egg) appears in the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and the character is played by Dexter Sol Ansell. Rhaenyra and Daemon are directly connected to Egg through their son, Viserys II, who is the great-grandfather of Aegon V's father.
Aegon V's father is Maekar I Targaryen, who is the son of Daeron II and the grandson of Aegon IV Targaryen. Aegon IV Targaryen is the son of Viserys II, a toddler in House of the Dragon. Prince Baelor Targaryen in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is also the son of Daeron II. And that is how the Targaryens in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms are connected to the Targaryens in House of the Dragon.

The prequel series, House of the Dragon, is set 80 years before the events of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and more than 150 years before Game of Thrones. While these shows are from different eras, the Targaryens are connected through their main characters. The character of Egg is also connected to Game of Thrones.
Egg, who eventually becomes king, is the great-grandfather of Aerys II Targaryen, making him the great-great-grandfather of Daenerys Targaryen and Viserys III Targaryen. So, Rhaenyra also happens to be one of Daenerys' ancestors. She is Daenerys' great-great-great-great-great-grandmother.
One the other hand, the line extends with Rhaenyra's youngest Viserys II, who are her other children.
Know everything about Rhaenyra Targaryen's children
Rhaenyra Targaryen has six children in George R. R. Martin's Fire & Blood, though one, her daughter Visenya, is stillborn. Her first three sons, Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey Velaryon, are officially recognized as the sons of her second cousin, Laenor Velaryon. However, they are believed to be the sons of Ser Harwin Strong.

After Laenor's departure, Rhaenyra married her uncle, Daemon Targaryen, and they had two sons, Aegon and Viserys. Aegon later became King Aegon III following the Dance of the Dragons, while Viserys eventually ascended the throne as King Viserys II. Her children play quite a crucial role, with their fates shaping the future of the dynasty, becoming yet more landmarks in the Targaryen lineage from House of the Dragon through to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
