Harry Collett reveals the physical toll of filming House of the Dragon death scene
Harry Collett has revealed just how intense filming became while working on House of the Dragon, especially during a scene opposite Emma D’Arcy. The actor said he spent nearly 10 hours lying still and pretending to be dead while D’Arcy delivered a devastating performance, and the scale of the moment made it unusually difficult to stay in character.
“They had to do that for like 10 hours that whole day. And each time was as strong as the other take.”
In a recent interview with MovieZine, Collett explained that the emotional force of the sequence made the experience feel far more physically and mentally demanding than he expected. He said the scene felt so real that even hearing D’Arcy’s voice and reacting to the movement around him made it hard to remain motionless.
He also made clear that he wanted the moment to look convincing on screen, even if that meant avoiding extra comfort measures. Collett added that people on set kept checking whether he wanted help with the physical discomfort, but he refused anything that might make the scene look less authentic.
“Everyone kept coming up to me like... 'Do you need padding?...' and I was like, 'No, no ... Make it as real as possible'”
That same loss now fuels the tone of Rhaenyra’s rule as her reign begins to take shape.
New House of the Dragon set photos reveals Rhaenyra’s bloody reign
Rhaenyra Targareyn's reign is finally underway, and the new House of the Dragon photos suggest Episode 3 will be dominated by power, grief, and the first real shape of her rule. The images point to a King’s Landing heavy chapter where she begins asserting authority while still reeling from Jacaerys’ death and the violence that brought her to the throne.

What stands out most is how much the episode appears to center on Rhaenyra inside the Red Keep. She is shown at the Small Council, at dinner, in private conversations, and eventually seated on the Iron Throne, which makes it clear this chapter is less about battlefield action and more about the burden of governing. The photos also suggest she is surrounded by a shifting political circle, with Daemon, Corlys, Mysaria, and newly introduced allies all moving through her orbit as she settles into power.
Outside King’s Landing, the episode still seems to make room for important movement. Daemon’s meeting with Ormund Hightower in the Reach looks like a major strategic moment, and it may also serve as a way to bring Daeron further into the story. Meanwhile, Rhaenyra’s encounters with Alicent, Helaena, the High Septon, and members of the city’s power structure hint that her early reign will involve as much negotiation as intimidation.
