HBO’s House of the Dragon is back with another scorching season of the Targaryen family drama. The series that is mostly about a ghastly war in the history of Westeros provides some breathtaking backdrops of Britain's beautiful landscapes, rather than using a green screen. The fog-covered mountains, the lush green forests, and the raging sea all add to the story and the mythology of the Westrosi history.

The authenticity and surreal beauty of some of these settings have forced fans to look for the filming locations of the third season of the show.

Season 3 of House of the Dragon was produced in England and Wales, particularly in Hertfordshire, Surrey, Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, and Snowdonia, as was the case with earlier seasons. For the majority of the indoor scenes set in the Seven Kingdoms, the production crew of the show went back to the Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Warner Drive in the Leavesden neighborhood of Hertfordshire.

A number of crucial scenes for the third installment of House of the Dragon were allegedly filmed in the ceremonial county of Surrey around September 2025. For the third season of the fantasy series, parts of Surrey's Swinley Forest and Barossa Nature Reserve were used as important production sites.

For the third season, the crew also visited the island of Anglesey, which is located off the northwest coast of Wales, for filming. Llanddwyn Beach, also called Newborough Beach, is a national nature reserve where several beach scenes were filmed. Many intense marine sequences were apparently filmed on location, turning the Beaumaris Pier into a Westeros combat zone.
