House of the Dragon Season 4 is expected to premiere in 2028, although HBO has not announced an exact release date or month yet. The final season was confirmed as part of HBO's broader Game of Thrones universe plans, while January 2026 brought confirmation that Season 4 will serve as the show's conclusion.

Production is expected to begin around spring 2027, giving the series plenty of time for location filming and the extensive visual-effects work required for its dragons. If the series follows the June premiere pattern established by Seasons 2 and 3, a summer 2028 release could be possible, but that timing remains speculative.
The wait for the final season is also giving the series time to introduce elements that could become increasingly important to the ending including one dragon fans have waited years to properly see.
House of the Dragon finally gives Dreamfyre her moment
House of the Dragon Episode 7 finally gives Dreamfyre her long-awaited moment after nearly three seasons largely in the shadows. Budget and screen-time considerations help explain the delay, as sequences featuring multiple dragons require extensive visual effects. Rather than appearing primarily in waking scenes, Dreamfyre emerges through four of Helaena Targaryen's dreams, including a quiet escape through the Red Keep and a frightening flight in which Helaena screams a command at an unfamiliar crowd.
The sequence transforms Dreamfyre from a background presence into an important part of Helaena's increasingly fractured arc. It also gives viewers a glimpse of a dragon whose importance extends beyond the immediate conflict. It also hints that Dreamfyre could have a larger role to play as the Targaryen civil war moves toward its final stages.

Dreamfyre is among the oldest living dragons in Westeros, with a history that stretches across generations of Targaryen riders. Her eggs also carry significance for future dragonriders, making her presence potentially important beyond Helaena's own storyline. As Season 3 approaches its conclusion, Dreamfyre's reveal feels like another piece of the larger puzzle being assembled before the series reaches its final act in Season 4.
For now, 2028 is the confirmed window, while the exact premiere date remains under wraps. With filming expected in 2027 and months of post-production ahead, fans will likely have to wait before HBO reveals a specific date, trailer, and episode details.
