Home Town fans have long treated the Heirloom Hotel as more than just another renovation project. It has become a symbol of what Home Town stands for: preserving history, honoring small town stories, and turning worn spaces into places where people gather. Viewers followed every step as Erin and Ben Napier teamed up with Jim and Mallorie Rasberry and Josh Nowell.
To transform a Laurel, Mississippi, building into a welcoming inn. That made last August’s devastating fire even harder to process, as the hotel was nearly ready to open when flames destroyed much of the progress.
Now, there is finally a hopeful update on the path forward.

Heirloom Hotel rebuild finds strength in community support
After the four-episode Home Town spinoff Inn This Together wrapped in May, the team found a meaningful way to involve fans in the recovery process. They began selling photo rails made from the hotel’s original wood flooring, salvaged from the burned structure. Instead of discarding what remained, they chose to give those materials a second life.
On May 31, they shared that most of the building could not be saved, but the historic boards still carried stories worth preserving. By turning them into photo rails, the team created a tangible way for supporters to keep a piece of the Heirloom Hotel alive in their own homes. The idea quickly resonated with viewers who had followed the project from the beginning. The response exceeded expectations, helping in the rebuild process.
According to an update on the product page, the Rasberrys and the Nowells revealed that the rails sold out completely after an overwhelming number of orders. At the same time, the team made it clear they are not seeking direct financial donations. On their podcast, Josh and Jim encouraged fans to help people in their own communities who are facing loss.
That spirit of rebuilding and community continues to shape the broader world of the show.
HGTV expands the Home Town universe with a Canadian twist
HGTV is now taking the Home Town concept beyond the United States with a new spinoff set in Canada. This time, Erin and Ben Napier will not be leading the transformation themselves. Instead, Bryan and Sarah Baeumler, known for their work on Renovation Island, have been chosen to host Home Town Takeover Canada.

In the announcement, the Baeumlers explained that they will have just three months to revitalize a struggling Canadian town. The challenge draws on their experience handling large-scale renovation projects, including restoring a resort in the Bahamas. The new series is set to air this fall on HGTV and Citytv+.
The format will closely follow the original Home Town Takeover structure, focusing on major renovations, tight timelines, and a strong emphasis on preserving local identity. Erin and Ben’s absence as primary hosts comes down to broadcasting rules that require Canadian talent for shows of this type. While they will not lead the project, they have indicated they may appear as guests and have expressed support for the new hosts.
