Tom Cruise has spent decades jumping off cliffs, hanging from airplanes, and treating gravity like a minor contractual inconvenience. Yet his most legendary Hollywood stunt might involve making colleagues feel like the only person in the room.
Stories of his laser-focused warmth have become showbiz folklore, alongside the white chocolate coconut Bundt cake he sends to friends every Christmas. The dessert, from California's Doan's Bakery, has practically achieved its own IMDb page.
Now, John Goodman has confirmed membership in that sweet little club.
John Goodman reveals Tom Cruise's incredible memory
On Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, John Goodman discussed his new co-star. Tom Cruise's mental filing cabinet stole the show.
"He remembers saying hi to me 30-something years ago," Goodman marveled.

He confirmed receiving Cruise's Christmas cake. Their first meeting happened at Bruce Willis's Malibu party over three decades earlier. Goodman felt out of place, hardly expecting anyone to remember their introduction. Cruise remembered their greeting, however, and could discuss who attended the gathering.
For Goodman, the details settled any suspicion that his co-star was merely offering polite Hollywood flattery. Apparently, Cruise maintains a guest list inside his brain, complete with backup storage. The conversation also touched on Cruise's unusual attentiveness, with Horowitz comparing his manner to a president remembering everyone in a room.
Yet even that formidable charisma could not protect their latest collaboration from a spectacular box-office crash landing.
Digger's box-office disaster leaves John Goodman defending the film
Directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Digger starred Tom Cruise as an oil tycoon scrambling to contain an environmental catastrophe. John Goodman portrays the American president, bringing another powerful personality into a satirical disaster already running on chaos.

The October 2 release opened to approximately $8 million domestically. According to The Numbers, worldwide receipts have reached roughly $49 million. Variety estimated production spending at $160 million to $180 million, with another $100 million devoted to marketing. Industry projections have placed potential losses in the hundreds of millions.
On Happy Sad Confused, Goodman argued that harsh early reviews hurt audience interest, saying the criticism had effectively damaged the film before opening. The sentiment was personal. He remained proud of the project and recalled enjoying the six-month shoot.
Could Digger enjoy a similar second life, and what do you make of Cruise's incredible memory? Let us know in the comments.
