Bassam Tariq defended Kevin Feige after one of the most anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe films, the Blade reboot, reportedly went down in flames. The studio, writers, and crew worked hard on the project, but it fell apart due to delays, script issues, and director Bassam Tariq’s exit. This failure to lead the Blade reboot led to severe criticism of Marvel executive Kevin Feige.

However, Tariq, who is known for his work on Mogul Mowgli, explained that although the movie did not work out, Feige does not deserve the criticism.

Bassam Tariq recently had an interview with Vulture where he addressed his exit from the Blade reboot. Looking back, the director spoke about the script issues and delays that affected the film. As for Kevin Feige, who was overseeing the Blade reboot, Tariq defended the Marvel executive, believing that he was handling a lot of projects at the same time.

“He’s a good dude. I really dislike all this s*** about like, ‘Marvel fumbled this. F*** Kevin Feige.’ No, man. He’s got a lot on his plate, too much. And I think we also had this impossible task of trying to compete with the first superhero movie, which is Wesley Snipes’s iconic ‘Blade.’ It’s really such a massive undertaking in a way that affected so many people," he said.

The Blade reboot was reportedly canceled, although there is not much information available about the situation. Now, Tariq, who was originally supposed to direct the film, has not let anything stop him. As he shared with Vulture, he has moved on from the project and has since gone on to write an original drama titled Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother.

Before the director, Mahershala Ali also addressed the situation.
