For Henry Cavill, this year has been decked up with high-impact projects. As he turns the pages of various genres, his return staged for Highlander Reboot has been peaking fan anticipation. Previously, Chad Stahelski had expressed his intentions to stay loyal to the original Highlander. As Cavill is readying himself to get in the skin of Conor MacLeod, the director is traveling the extra mile to showcase his loyalty.

The original Highlander has set its emblem on Queen’s songs. However, an interesting update suggests that the reboot could feature an unreleased song of the icon, which was also there in the original.

When it comes to loyalty, Chad Stahelski is the one for details. The original Highlander featured several songs from Queen’s 1986 album, ‘A Kind of Magic’. Queen’s contribution took a credible space in the 1986 cinema. Adhering to his commitment, Stahelski plans to bring the song, ‘Theme from New York, New York’, for the revamp project. Reports also suggest that the John Wick director will keep the original soundtrack.

In the 1986 original, the unreleased song was featured briefly but was never officially released. Originally composed by John Kander and written by Fred Ebb, the song was used in a Martin Scorsese film. The song was performed by Liza Minnelli and is supposed to take official release once it is used for the reboot. The filming of this project is reported to begin next year.

Although Chad Stahelski’s faithfulness to the original is commendable, the potential of achieving the same still raises eyebrows. Especially since the announcement of retrieving elements from its franchise, as had been said by the director in the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast. Over the years, the Highlander franchise has taken shape into TV series, books, and even video games.

The initial plan to remain true to the original was motivational. But his plans to pick up things from the franchise gears negative fan sentiments owing to the fear of disrupting the flow of the original. But Stahelski’s commitment to immortalize the classic has already raked up expectations. Hence, whether the remake retains immortality or not can only be deciphered once it is released.
