A new duo is set to take over the big screen this year. Brad Pitt has joined hands and paws with a new canine co-star for David Ayer’s upcoming thriller Heart of the Beast. The movie's opening sequence, which featured Pitt's character encountering wolves and bears while attempting to survive with his devoted partner, debuted at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on April 26. The first look alone has gotten everyone’s attention for the survival thriller.  

The curiosity has led the internet to be buzzing with all kinds of questions about the film. Here are some of the important ones.

Heart of the Beast's fall 2026 release date was confirmed by Paramount at CinemaCon. More recent updates have revealed that the movie is set to be released on September 25. The production, which began with David Ayer’s inclusion in the project in March 2024, has already finished filming. 

The movie is based on the screenplay by Cameron Alexander, which had previously been included on a list of important unproduced scripts from 2017, and features brilliant actors other than Pitt and his canine co-star.

Brad Pitt, J. K. Simmons, and Anna Lambe are the only three non-canine cast members that have been revealed for Heart of the Beast thus far. Pitt won two Oscars for starring in Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood (2019) and producing 12 Years a Slave (2013). Simmons is a decorated actor himself. His supporting role in Whiplash (2014) earned him an Academy Award.

Now, the only important query about the movie remains about the storyline of the upcoming Brad Pitt starer. 

James Belmont (Brad Pitt), a Special Forces man, and his battle dog, Odin, are stranded deep in the Alaskan tundra following a terrifying plane accident. They are compelled to engage in a vicious struggle against the weather in order to survive. The movie is essentially the epic journey Belmont and his dog embark upon to make it to civilization once again. 

Heart of the Beast, a gripping adventure thriller from renowned director David Ayer, examines the unshakable friendship between a man and his best friend as they confront their worst struggle to date. With an emotionally touching core theme like this, the film is poised to be a worthy opponent to Tom Cruise’s Digger, directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, which is scheduled to release around the same time.
