“He Lives Like S***”: Kevin O’Leary Commends Timothée Chalamet’s Dedication to Movies, Highlights Struggles of Hollywood

Published 04/10/2026, 6:43 PM EDT

Those who have seen Marty Supreme can attest to the fact that Kevin O’Leary was really the perfect fit for Milton Rockwell. Shark Tank’s “Mr. Wonderful” really shines, especially in the scene where he asks Marty to pull down his pants and get hit on his buttocks with a table tennis paddle, all in return for taking him to Japan. He really tapped into the villainous side of Milton and went hard on Marty.

As much as Milton hated Marty for his smug and entitled way of looking at everything, he feels the opposite for his co-star, Timothée Chalamet, who played Marty in the movie. He has praised the actor on a number of occasions, and he showed a similar gesture in a recent interview where he took a moment to laud the actor.

He talked about Chalamet’s dedication to movies and sheds light on several other things, like the Hollywood hustle.

Kevin O’Leary lavishes Timothée Chalamet with words of admiration

Kevin O’Leary, the famous Shark Tank judge, ventured for the first time into acting and made a lasting impression on everyone. Since then, every interview and every appearance has been a little bit about his experience as an actor and working alongside such a talented actor like Timothée Chalamet. His latest appearance on The Iced Coffee Hour podcast was no different.

“Don't assume Timothée Chalamet runs around making movies and lives like a king, he lives like s***, it's really really hard," said O’Leary on the podcast.

The conversation was actually about his first time on a film set and the work experience, which for him was something entirely different from the popular public perception. According to him, they work really hard, sometimes 18 hours a day, in not-so-ideal conditions, even. He then adds his statement about Timothée Chalamet that he does not really have a fun life as an actor, as many would like to assume.

Kevin O’Leary’s words show the contrast between expectations and the reality of an actor’s life. To make a movie, an actor has to go through a hard time, and so does the entire crew of the film. O’Leary learnt that when he stepped into those same shoes, and now has a newfound respect for the ones involved in the process of filmmaking.

Before this particular interview, he had also said about having caught the acting bug from his stint as an actor. He now has new aspirations for his career as an actor.

Kevin O’Leary and his big dream role

Kevin O’Leary’s acting debut was well beyond anyone’s expectations, and he hit it out of the park with his very first outing. Now, he has developed a taste for acting and wants to do even bigger roles in the future. He has even shared his aspirations about his next role in some interviews.

“Now that I’ve done this, I really want to do it again, and I know specifically what I want. I might as well - I’m used to asking for what I want. I want to be the bad guy in Bond,” O’Leary said in an interview with AP Entertainment earlier this year.

It is not entirely out of the question that Kevin O'Leary would be considered to play a villain in a Bond film after showcasing his acting abilities in Marty Supreme. To be fair, he can go toe to toe with 007 after what he did with Marty in a room full of people. He might have been a deterrent to Marty’s journey, but O’Leary, who also defended Timothée Chalamet during his scuffle with opera and ballet, has been a great supporter of the actor.
