Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds share a friendship that translates seamlessly between real life and their on-screen dynamic as Wolverine and Deadpool. Their chemistry during Deadpool & Wolverine promotion felt authentic because years of playful banter built genuine rapport off camera. This bond continues producing hilarious moments that rival their comic book exchanges.

Reynolds recently revealed a new wager so absurd it perfectly captures their competitive spirit and willingness to embrace public embarrassment for entertainment.

While promoting Mayday on the On Film… With Kevin McCarthy podcast, Reynolds explained that he and Jackman will compete in a race during Valencia's Grand Prix weekend. Reynolds represents Team Canada while Jackman backs Australia, turning the sporting event into personal stakes beyond mere national pride.

"The bet is that, so if I lose I have to go to Times square wearing the Wolverine suit and take all the pictures with all the people for as long as he decides if he loses he has to get in the Deadpool suit," Reynolds explained.

Reynolds elaborated on the podcast that neither competitor receives the mercy of wearing masks during their Times Square punishment.

"No mask head to head to Times square. Hopefully I'm not washing that suit either and he's going he's going out there stand for as long as I want."

The image of Jackman squeezing into the red-and-black Deadpool costume while Reynolds suffers inside the yellow-and-blue Wolverine uniform represents peak comedic justice between two friends who understand each other's vulnerabilities perfectly.

And their latest public stunt comes as Marvel fans continue watching for another Deadpool and Wolverine reunion.

Are Deadpool and Wolverine really in Avengers: Doomsday?

Marvel Studios has listed Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman among the announced cast of Avengers: Doomsday. Following the massive success of Deadpool & Wolverine and its heavy use of TVA (Time Variance Authority) lore, the duo's transition into the broader multiversal conflict makes sense.

For the announcement Reynolds crashed the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con presentation as “Jeanpool,” humorously asking Kevin Feige for a role.  At D23, Jackman appeared in a recorded message asking whether there was room for him and Reynolds, with Reynolds directing the exchange from off camera.

Reports and alleged set images have also fueled claims that Deadpool and Wolverine appear alongside Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026.
