Despite delivering some mind-blowing performances over the years, Michael B. Jordan still does not have an Oscar. Surprisingly, he has not even been nominated for any of his roles, that is, before Sinners. Jordan has always been lauded for his incredible acting performances and has even received recognitions ranging from Actor Awards to Critics' Choice Awards, but never an Academy Award.
Through Sinners, the movie has convinced many that Jordan stands a chance to create history this awards season with his first-ever Oscar win. Well, the awards season is here, and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners has made waves with its record-breaking 16 nominations at the Oscars 2026, and with it, Jordan stands staunch with chances.
But if we look at the current trend, Sinners has been riding on the coattails of Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, which has snagged all the major awards this season. The same is the case with Michael B Jordan, who has constantly been one-upped by Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothée Chalamet, turning the competition up for the Best Actor Award this year.
Anyhow, a recent win has once again ignited the fire around his cold shot at the coveted statue.

After winning the Actor Award, formerly known as the SAG Awards, for best male performance in a leading role, Michael B. Jordan turned around his odds for the Oscar season. This was not Jordan's only win at the ceremony, as he returned to the stage for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture along with Miles Caton, Buddy Guy, Jayme Lawson, Delroy Lindo, Omar Miller, Wunmi Mosaku, Jack O'Connell, and Hailee Steinfeld. After Black Panther in 2019, this is Jordan's second win in the ensemble category at the Actor Awards.
