Harry Potter is about to cast a spell on a few new television homes. For the first time, the beloved fantasy films will air across MTV, Nickelodeon, and Paramount Network after Paramount struck a multi-year licensing deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. The timing is especially magical. With the television adaptation arriving this December and introducing Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout as the new golden trio, fans can revisit Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint while preparing for a brand-new trip to Hogwarts.
Amid the excitement of owls, Quidditch matches, and spell-casting making their MTV debut, this television event exists because of a major licensing agreement quietly reshaping the wizarding world behind the scenes.

The reason Harry Potter is suddenly apparating onto MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, and Paramount Network has less to do with magic and more to do with a major business decision. Paramount recently secured a multi-year licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery, making its networks the exclusive linear television home for all eight Harry Potter films and the three Fantastic Beasts adventures. The arrangement opens the gates of Hogwarts to entirely new audiences across Paramount's television portfolio.
"As one of the most beloved and enduring franchises in entertainment, ‘Harry Potter’ continues to captivate audiences across generations, and this addition enables us to deliver the magic and adventure of these timeless stories to fans of all ages,” he said in a statement. That enduring appeal is exactly what made the franchise such a valuable addition to Paramount's lineup. Few film series can attract children discovering Hogwarts for the first time and adults who practically know every spell by heart.
The rollout is just as ambitious as the deal itself. MTV will kick things off with a marathon of all eight Harry Potter films across the July Fourth holiday weekend before Paramount Network takes over with nightly broadcasts. Nick at Nite will then host its own week-long showcase, ensuring that wizards, witches, and magical creatures spend much of the summer hopping between television screens.
The franchise's next chapter is fast approaching. Between a record-setting trailer and a rapidly approaching premiere, the new series is carrying the sort of expectations usually reserved for Triwizard champions.
What awaits at Hogwarts in the new Harry Potter series
Perhaps the most exciting promise of the new Harry Potter series is time itself. With a season dedicated to each novel, Hogwarts finally has room to breathe. That means long-lost corners of the wizarding world can step out of the margins, from the eerie Gaunt family history to the chaotic halls of St. Mungo's Hospital and storylines that never survived the jump to the big screen.
The new faces arriving at Hogwarts are another major draw. Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout will lead a fresh generation through the castle's corridors, while acclaimed performers such as John Lithgow, Nick Frost, Bertie Carvel, and Katherine Parkinson take over some of the franchise's most beloved roles. The commitment to book-accurate ages also promises characters who feel closer to J.K. Rowling's original vision.

Then there is the sheer scale of the production. Hans Zimmer's company, Bleeding Fingers Music, is crafting an entirely new score, while Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden is building a temporary school so the young cast can grow up alongside their characters during the planned decade-long journey. Fittingly, as Harry Potter arrives on more television screens than ever, a new generation of Hogwarts magic is preparing to do the same.
