As a new mother, Hailee Steinfeld felt a special connection to her new film, Hexed. The actress welcomed her first child, a daughter, with her husband, Josh Allen, earlier in April. Soon after stepping into this new chapter of their lives, the actress has been back to work, and that began with her work on the new film and the promotional activities.

Now, looking back at the time of working on the film, the actress revealed that she was experiencing one of the most special times in her personal life at the same time. And that likely helped her feel more connected to the story.

Hailee Steinfeld recently made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to talk about the new Disney film, Hexed. Speaking to Fallon, she revealed that she started working on the film while she was pregnant and completed it after her daughter was born. She called the time transformative for her.

"I started this project when I was pregnant and finished it after my baby was born, so it was really such an amazing sort of like transformative time in my life," she said.

Earlier, during her interview with E! News at the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Steinfeld also drew a comparison, saying that the experience was special since she was pregnant while working on the film that is about a mother and daughter’s relationship. She further added that she wants her daughter to watch the movie later and be able to connect with the characters and the story of the magical world. Steinfeld earlier revealed her daughter's name on her substack newsletter. While speaking to Fallon, the actress also shared a few words about the character she is playing.

"I'm playing this amazing character, Billie, who is this rebellious sort of unconventional teen who discovers this secret about herself that she is a witch and has magical powers," she said.

While Steinfeld has shared much about her experience and character, what is the story of Hexed about? 

Directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand, the animated comedy film Hexed follows a young girl, Billie Doe, who discovers that she has magical powers. She is pulled, along with her mother, into the world of witches known as Hexe. Hailee Steinfeld lends her voice to the character of Billie Doe.

She is joined by Rashida Jones, who voices Billie’s mother, Alice Doe. Jodie Foster, Walton Goggins, Tracey Ullman, and Stephen Fry are also part of the cast. The movie has already wrapped production and is set to release on November 25, 2026, promising audiences an exciting ride into a new world of witches.
