Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul will be released in theaters on June 17, 2026, across more than 200 theaters. It will be held as a special one-night-only event. Following its theatrical release, the documentary will be available to buy on Amazon Prime.
The film features a rare 2014 interview he gave just three years before his death. Director James Keach took on the project despite knowing very little about the Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman, or their music. However, after accepting the job at the encouragement of his wife, he began noticing several parallels between his own life and Allman's.
Keach also revealed that what intrigued him most was Gregg's relationship with his brother, Duane Allman. Gregg and Duane Allman founded the Allman Brothers Band in 1969 and worked tirelessly to establish it as one of the most famous bands. But apart from the band's success, Gregg also enjoyed a successful solo career, releasing eight studio albums.
Until the documentary arrives in theaters and later on streaming platforms, here is yet another inspiring music documentary worth watching.
