Industry heavyweight Kevin McCarthy has glowing praise for The Odyssey. The film, which is an adaptation of Homer's epic, is a cinematic spectacle directed by Christopher Nolan. While it follows a god-like warrior’s dangerous journey to return home, the story digs deep into the crushing weight of war, pain, devastating loss, and longing.
And much like the director’s other films, it is a visual feast that drew massive crowds to the theaters even at a time when streaming is more popular. The film raked in billions at the box office all across the globe and is also hailed as one of the best movies from the director. And McCarthy, who was also one of the critics, revealed his conversation with Nolan to Elliot Page.

McCarthy and the critics are not the only ones praising The Odyssey. The cast, including Page, has also spoken highly of Nolan’s vision and storytelling. For the film, Nolan pulled out all the stops, bringing together an all-star cast that includes Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, and Zendaya. And apart from the director, the cast also went above and beyond to put in the work to bring their characters to life on screen.
Matt Damon, who plays a warrior in the film, spent months getting into the right shape for the physically demanding role.

Moreover, the cast also worked with Nolan following his famous preference for practical effects over CGI. It was not just the epic scale of the film or the cast’s brilliant performances that made The Odyssey brilliant. The sheer effort that went into bringing the story to life is equally impressive. And if McCarthy’s comment is anything to go by, The Odyssey is certainly one of the greatest films ever made, if not the greatest.
