For the role of Baldur in God of War, Amazon MGM has cast Ed Skrein, who is the primary antagonist. This is not the first time the actor has found himself on the other side of good in an iconic franchise, as he played the main villain in Deadpool.
In Deadpool 2016, he played the primary antagonist, named Ajax (real name Francis Freeman), who is sadistic, superhumanly strong, and a pain-immune leader of the Workshop program. He is the one responsible for torturing Wade Wilson, played by Ryan Reynolds, and turning him into Deadpool. Given the characteristics of Ajax, Skrein emerges as the perfect casting to play Baldur.
Baldur is the primary villain of God of War and one of Odin’s sons. He shows up at Kratos’ doorstep one day and sets off the events of the game after a destructive fight with the Greek hero. Cursed by his own mother as a way of protection, Baldur is unable to feel any pain or physical pleasure, which is also his strength. He is also Thor’s brother and the first Norse god that Kratos encounters.
Apart from Baldur, the rest of the cast has also been announced, leaving the stage set for the live-action adaptation to channel the game’s mythic intensity onto the small screen.
Everything about God of Wars
The God of War live-action series is based on the 2018 video game God of War, developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The story follows Kratos, a former Greek god who tries to leave behind his violent past and start a new life with his wife and his son in the realm of Norse mythology. Living in Midgard with his young son Atreus, Kratos embarks on a journey to fulfill his late wife’s final wish, when his encounter with Baldur spirals to a larger conflict with the Norse Pantheon. This heavy plot will be brought to life by an excellent cast.
While Baldur is played by Ed Skrein, the other characters have already found their actors as well. Ryan Hurst plays Kratos, who had voiced Thor in God of War Ragnarok. Young actor Callum Vinson plays Kratos’ son Atreus.
The cast includes Teresa Palmer as Phoebe/Sif, Thor’s wife and the goddess of family; Max Parker as Heimdall, the Watchman of Asgard, and one of Odin’s sons; Ólafur Darri Ólafsson plays Thor; Alastair Duncan, reprising his role of Mimir, Jeff Gulka as Sindriand and Danny Woodburn as Brok who will play brothers.

Ronald D. Moore serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer and his Tall Ship Productions too are the part of it. Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios are collaborating with PlayStation Productions to co-produce.
The anticipation, if anything, has only sharpened, and fans appear more than satisfied, particularly with Ed Skrein stepping into the role of Baldur, a choice that has been met not with debate, but agreement.
