“He would like to make one last Mad Max pic, then a TV series, then sell the whole property to the highest bidder,” said the source to Puck News.

Warner Bros. is completely absent from the negotiations for this ultimate franchise package. The studio previously handled distribution for all five instalments, steering the original 1979 debut, the 1981 sequel The Road Warrior, and the 1985 blockbuster Beyond Thunderdome. Their partnership also extended to modern chapters, backing both the 2015 cinematic triumph Fury Road and the 2024 prequel Furiosa.

The box office return for Furiosa stalled at 175 million dollars worldwide, barely recovering its production budget. This financial performance likely influenced the outcome when Miller visited the Burbank lot to pitch his latest concepts.
