'Gen V' Season 3 Receives A Disappointing Update As 'The Boys' Final Season Gears Up For Release

The world of The Boys has never played by traditional superhero rules, delivering brutal satire, high-stakes drama, and a constantly expanding universe. One of its most successful extensions came in the form of Gen V, which shifted the focus to a new generation of supes navigating power, politics, and identity at Godolkin University.
As The Boys gears up for its highly anticipated final season, the spotlight naturally turns to what comes next for the franchise. Gen V seemed perfectly positioned to carry that momentum forward. Still, a recent update has cast doubt over how soon fans will return to its chaotic campus, and whether the story will continue without delay.
That growing uncertainty becomes harder to ignore as new details emerge about the spinoff’s future.

Gen V Season 3 faces uncertainty as The Boys nears its end
Just as anticipation builds across the franchise, Gen V Season 3 has received a disappointing update, especially with The Boys approaching its conclusion. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actress Jaz Sinclair revealed that she has not heard anything about the show’s future or whether the spinoff is officially coming back.
“I have not. I don’t know anything as far as what the future holds,” Jaz Sinclair admitted, making it clear that there are currently no confirmed developments for Season 3.
While that uncertainty may worry fans, she also expressed confidence in the creative team, praising how they have shaped Marie’s journey so far.
While this does not necessarily mean the series will not return, it does suggest that fans may be in for a long wait. With Gen V so closely tied to The Boys, the creators may be holding off on major decisions until the flagship story wraps up. Characters like Starlight and A-Train have already begun bridging the two narratives, making the timing of Season 3 heavily dependent on what unfolds next.
And as the main series prepares to deliver its final chapter, its approach to storytelling is also raising eyebrows.
The Boys finale keeps it tight instead of supersized
As The Boys heads into its final season, creator Eric Kripke has made it clear that the ending will not rely on an extended, movie-length finale. Instead, the last episode is expected to run just over an hour, prioritizing pacing and impact over sheer runtime.
While speaking with Steve Weintraub in a recent Collider interview, Eric Kripke explained that stretching the finale to 90 minutes could risk losing momentum, especially for a show known for its relentless energy and sharp storytelling.
“It’s not. It’s like an hour and five. We’re not doing that huge, super-sized 90-minute thing”, Eric Kripke noted. He believes that a more concise duration prevents the audience from becoming bored while keeping the action-packed and impactful.
“I think the audience might have ended up getting bored had we gone that long”, said Eric Kripke. The final season will feature the return of foundational stars such as Karl Urban and Antony Starr to resolve their long-standing rivalry.

At the same time, the final season is expected to bring back major players like Karl Urban and Antony Starr, while also expanding the universe with crossover moments, further hinting that the franchise is setting the stage for what comes next.
With The Boys preparing to close its central storyline, the future of its expanding universe is at a turning point. Projects like Gen V and Vought Rising are expected to carry the legacy forward, but timing and creative direction will be crucial.
