The Frozen franchise by Disney has been a cultural juggernaut that has never left the cultural scene, even though Frozen II has long since come to its close in 2019. The animated saga has never really left the discussion since its box office success, its legendary soundtrack, and the characters that will be remembered by generations still reign on. People have been anticipating tangible news regarding the sequel, especially with Disney trickles confirming that there will be not one but two more movies.
Although the news of Frozen 3 has been well kept secret, the film has been being developed, quietly in the background. Josh Gad confirms Frozen 3 is officially in production
Josh Gad, who voices the beloved snowman Olaf, sent fans into a frenzy after sharing a major update on Instagram. In a post uploaded on February 2, 2026, Gad revealed that Frozen 3 has officially entered production, marking the clearest sign yet that the long-anticipated sequel is moving full steam ahead.
“3rd time is always the charm. Time to build another snowman. #frozen3,” Gad wrote, while tagging key Disney Animation figures including Jennifer Lee, Trent Correy, Christina Chen, and the official Disney Animation account. The lighthearted tease carries significant weight, as Gad has previously hinted at development progress without confirming production milestones.
The timing of the post also stands out. Shared just hours before fans caught on, it serves as a soft but definitive confirmation that the creative team is actively working on the next chapter of Anna, Elsa, and Olaf’s story, something Disney itself has yet to formally announce through a press release.
With Olaf back in the mix, attention now turns to what “in production” actually means for Frozen 3.
How far has Frozen 3’s production reached?
Although Disney has maintained secrecy on certain details, the post by Josh Gad suggests that significant steps are being undertaken on the long-awaited follow-up. Such a new announcement suggests that crucial aspects of the production, including animation development and possible voice recording, are being taken, or are in the process of being taken.

This Disney classic movie's sequel is already planned to be released on November 24, 2027, allowing Disney Animation a multi-year run common to large-scale animated films. The long duration also coincides with the fact that Disney has confirmed that Frozen 4 is being developed as well which suggests that the franchise in the future will have a more extended, interlinked storyline.
Although plot information is still not disclosed, a post by Gad indicates that the transition is to be planned and executed. To the fans, who have been waiting years with physical bite, it is the start of the next era of Frozen, one snowflake at a time.
