Veteran actor Vincent Pastore, well remembered for his role as Salvatore "Big P****" Bonpensiero on The Sopranos, has passed away at the age of 80. The late actor made a name for himself playing tough guys and mobsters, and this image was further bolstered by his iconic stint on The Sopranos. However, Pastore's career is not just defined by Salvatore Bonpensiero, as he played the tough guy in some of the most famous gangster movies. 

The archetype was set for him, but the nuances he brought to these roles are what paved the path for his long and illustrious Hollywood career.

Vincent Pastore had quite the life - born in the Bronx on July 14, 1946, served in the Vietnam War, and then went for a drama degree from Pace University, but had to drive a limo to support his acting career. But fate finally smiled on him, and at a community play, he met actors Matt and Kevin Dillon. 

The Entourage star Kevin Dillon subsequently helped Pastore obtain his first significant industry break. This resulted in small parts in movies from the early 1990s, including Men of Respect, Carlito's Way, and Goodfellas. With the release of The Jerky Boys: The Movie in 1995, Pastore became well-known in the industry. 

In the 1996 HBO television movie Gotti, he starred with Tony Sirico, Frank Vincent, and Dominic Chianese, who would later co-star with him in The Sopranos. In the 1999 drama The Sopranos, David Chase cast Pastore in his iconic role as Salvatore Bonpensiero. He portrayed Tony Soprano's longtime best buddy and a mob enforcer who later became an FBI informant.

But this is not it, as the actor has several more credits to his name in movies and television.

Vincent Pastore has a long list of movie credits under his belt. The late actor appeared in Mafia!, Mickey Blue Eyes, Two Family House, Riding in Cars with Boys, Witness to the Mob, and Deuces Wild. Serving Sara, This Thing of Ours, Shark Tale, Bachelor Party Vegas, Once Upon a Time in Brooklyn, Money Train, A Brooklyn State of Mind, The Deli, Spinning Gold, and Guy Ritchie's Revolver were among his other film credits.

He made appearances on Law & Order and played significant parts in Wu-Tang: An American Saga, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, and Hawaii Five-0. Pastore also appeared in the miniseries The Last Don II and the daily soap One Life to Live. He recently guest-starred on Yellowjackets and became a series regular on Gravesend. Although Vincent Pastore has moved on to the other side, we still have his memories in the beloved roles he played on the screen.
