Paul Feig's 2025 film The Housemaid was a chic, trashy-fun home thriller that combined suspense with extravagant, contemporary elements. While the critics deemed it average, the audience absolutely loved the movie. This love led to the film doing solid business at the box office, earning $400 million from its entire theatrical run. Seeing the humongous success, Lionsgate has announced a sequel to the thriller with Sydney Sweeney returning to reprise her role as Millie Calloway.

With Sweeney on board, the makers have added yet another gem to the cast in the form of Kirsten Dunst.

With the announcement of The Housemaid's impending sequel, Lionsgate has made another great move to ride the wave of the film's worldwide success. The Housemaid's Secret, which is based on Freida McFadden's second book in her Housemaid series, will star Kirsten Dunst alongside Sydney Sweeney, according to the studio (via Deadline).

“It is a privilege to bring The Housemaid’s next chapter to the screen with Kirsten Dunst,” said Erin Westerman, Lionsgate’s motion picture group president. She further lavished the actress with praise, complementing her movie choices and the range of her roles. According to her, Dunst and Sweeney together will be electrifying on screen.

According to the sequel's plot synopsis, Millie returns to accept a job cleaning the home of a woman she is never permitted to see. However, she soon learns the truth behind the locked door, which could reveal secrets even darker than before. The story seems to be promising and even more mysterious than its predecessor.
