For months now, fans have been hoping Henry Cavill will take up the mantle of James Bond. What seemed nearly impossible at first due to the British actor’s commitments now stands the chance of happening. But with a tight competition for the role headway, the Superman actor’s chances remain just that: a chance. While Bond producers are taking their sweet time to make their pick, impatient fans have taken to casting or what they call, “cooking.” A recent case of such cooking sees Cavill teaming up with Christopher Nolan.
The Witcher star is definitely a fan favorite casting for the James Bond franchise’s 26th film, but producers of the film are yet to take a call. But that has not stopped the fans, who have filled the Internet with their demands to cast the 40-year-old. Fanning the fire further is a fan tweet that proposes Cavill’s collaboration with Christopher Nolan.

“Can I cook?” read the caption of the tweet, which at the time of writing had 2.3k likes and 224 retweets. The said post proposed Cavill as James Bond in a film directed by Nolan. While the comments to the post showcased the “yes” from the fandom, the director himself may be against it.
Ahead of Oppenheimer’s release, Nolan appeared on Josh Horowitz’s Happy, Sad, Confused podcast along with the film’s stars Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. During the interview, when asked about his potential involvement with the James Bond franchise, the director expressed his apprehension. While he would love to direct the movie, he would need complete control over the writing and casting, which could be tricky with an iconic franchise like this one.
These practicalities mean nothing when fans are left to their imaginations, as Twitterati seem to give a huge thumbs up to the “cooking.”
Twitterati support Henry Cavill and Christopher Nolan’s team-up for James Bond
To say The Witcher season 3 and its finale disappointed Henry Cavill fans would be an understatement. But this despair seems to have disappeared in an instant at the word of him teaming up with Nolan for James Bond 26. While this is just fan casting, the fandom has given a green signal to the idea.
Of course.
Because as per the writers of James Bond, Henry suits to the words.

With many a “yes” and “I approve,” this fan’s cooking seems to have garnered a fanbase of its own.

Despite the majority ‘yays,’ some fans are apprehensive about Nolan’s involvement. Some are of the opinion that the director’s style will not suit the franchise, while others want more of Napoleon Solo from Cavill.
I don’t mind Nolan. But his style wouldn’t work. It would just feel like another Inception or Tenet.

It would be the best series of Bond flicks ever made. And I'd still prefer to see more Napoleon Solo, being content with the fact that they already killed Bond.

Writing the movie yes but directed is a no for me. He not really good directing action scenes.

Fan wishes and “cooking” aside, it remains to be seen if Henry Cavill or Christopher Nolan would make the cut for the next actor and director, respectively, to lead the James Bond franchise. At the moment, Argylle director Matthew Vaughn seems to be the top choice. But it is still anyone’s guessing game who will lead the next Bond film.
