Callum Turner now has the blessing of a former 007. The rumour mill has continued to buzz after Amazon MGM announced its search for the next actor to star in a new James Bond movie. Jacob Elordi, Josh O’Connor and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are among the names making the rounds on social media as potential candidates to take on the iconic role.

Another name gaining traction is Callum Turner, who recently received a nod of approval from a former James Bond actor.

Callum Turner gets approval for James Bond role

Pierce Brosnan played James Bond in four films between 1995 and 2002, and he is eager to see who will take on the iconic role after Daniel Craig. In a conversation with Vanity Fair, the actor shared that he is impressed by all the actors rumoured to be in contention for the role and is looking forward to the announcement. However, he went on to single out one actor, Turner, praising him as a great candidate for the role.

“Callum Turner is someone I’ve worked with, and he’s so strong. They all have a voice and a physique, and a presence on film. They all have longevity as actors, all of these young men,” he said.

Brosnan’s comments in the interview will further fuel the existing rumours surrounding the actor. Most recently, news resurfaced that Turner had reportedly stepped down from his role as director of Twentytwo Films Ltd., which was founded by him and his wife, Dua Lipa. This has raised speculation about whether the actor is clearing his schedule to star in a new franchise.

Pierce Brosnan is excited for Denis Villeneuve’s version of James Bond

Pierce Brosnan is thrilled about the next James Bond film, and one of the reasons behind his excitement is its director. The film will be helmed by Dune director Denis Villeneuve. The actor had high praise for Villeneuve’s work and expressed faith in his vision, going on to predict that the next film will be magnificent.

“(Villeneuve) is such an iconoclastic director. His work is visionary, and his stealth and imagination of camera work and storytelling is so visceral and sensuous,” he said.

Apart from Villeneuve, Steven Knight, best known for creating the crime drama Peaky Blinders, is also attached to the project as its scriptwriter. In a conversation with Zoe Ball on the U.K.’s Greatest Hits Radio, Knight shared that he has already completed the script for the movie. So, it seems things are indeed moving fast to get the movie into production. What remains to be seen, however, is who will be cast as James Bond.
