"For My Sins" Karl Urban Makes A Major Confession for 'Mortal Kombat 2'

Karl Urban has never hesitated to take tough and physically demanding roles. From throwing punches as Billy Butcher in The Boys to going all-out in Doom, he knows how to handle the action.

Having arguably established himself as the rough, morally gray character who definitely knows how to throw a punch, one would assume that he would feel the most at home on the sets of his movie titles, Mortal Kombat II. However, that was not the case.

With the action packed movie coming next year, Karl Urban has thrown a punch like confession about his upcoming role, and this one may just be his best so far.

Karl Urban opens up about his challenging role in Mortal Kombat II

The Boys actor Karl Urban explained that his role as Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat II pushed him to his limits.

“I asked for a heavy-action content movie, and for my sins, they gave me one,” Urban said in an interview with EW.

He shared that the combination of martial arts precision and complex choreography made the role his toughest yet. The actor was required to dig deep to bring the fan-favorite video game character, Johnny Cage, to the screen. 

Karl Urban's confession to Entertainment Weekly provided not just an insight into the actor's experience on set but also what fans can expect. The actor will be joined by Adeline Rudolph, Josh Lawson, Jessica McNamee, and several other notable names in the industry. So, the stakes are clearly high for the movie. Whether Karl Urban ultimately does justice to the action-packed role is something viewers will find out next year.

The movie is set to be released in theaters on May 8, 2026. However, Karl Urban can be witnessed in his favorite avatar much before Mortal Kombat II's release date.

The final season of The Boys has heartbreaking surprises

The fan-favorite satirical superhero series The Boys is coming to an end. The cast has already wrapped up filming earlier this year in mid-June. Moreover, Season 5, which will serve as the show’s final chapter, is set to premiere with its first two episodes on April 8 of 2026.

Much like the previous seasons, the final season is also expected to bring plenty of surprises. During The Boys FAN EXPO panel, Karl Urban teased that Season 5 will hit hard emotionally, with major deaths potentially arriving as early as the premiere. The series finale is scheduled for May 20, with new episodes will be released weekly on Amazon Prime Video.
