The Focker family is getting back together for Focker-in-Law. Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro are reprising their iconic roles as Greg Focker and the ever-intimidating Jack Byrnes. Teri Polo returns as Pam, Blythe Danner is back as Dina, and Owen Wilson once again steps into the shoes of Kevin Rawley, whose nauseatingly spiritual personality remains part of the franchise’s charm.

With longtime franchise writer John Hamburg at the helm, the sequel introduces a generational role reversal, as Greg trades his place as the man under scrutiny for that of a parent forced to evaluate his own child’s romantic decisions.

The Focker family is expanding, and so is its potential for awkward relationship drama. Skyler Gisondo steps into the role of Henry Focker, Greg and Pam’s grown-up son, whose plans to get engaged kick off the sequel’s central conflict. Ariana Grande joins him as Olivia Jones, Henry’s seemingly innocent girlfriend, who has a surprising skill set as a trained FBI hostage negotiator.

Beanie Feldstein also stars as the Fockers’ quick-witted daughter, Samantha, and Eduardo Franco rounds out the new lineup as her boyfriend.

Plot of Focker-in-Law

Greg Focker is about to learn what it feels like to be shut out of the Circle of Trust in Focker-in-Law. His worst fears come to life when his son, Henry, announces his plans to marry Olivia Jones. Convinced that Olivia is somehow manipulating his son, Greg spirals into full-blown panic mode. His notoriously stern father-in-law, Jack Byrnes, unexpectedly takes Olivia’s side too. Before long, Greg finds himself turning into the very kind of paranoid, overbearing patriarch he spent years resenting.

Things get messy fast when wedding preparations bring the entire Focker clan together under one roof. Between painfully awkward dinners, Jack’s behind-the-scenes snooping, and Olivia’s ability to negotiate her way through just about anything, Greg has plenty to worry about before the big day. What follows is a fresh dose of family chaos built around a truth most people eventually discover: no matter how different you think you are from your parents, some habits have a way of catching up with you.
