After Stranger Things season 5 came to an end, Saturday Night Live returned for a new run with Finn Wolfhard hosting the show. During his opening monologue, Wolfhard joked about being ready to do adult films this year. Although he was not serious, the comment was met with loud cheers from the audience.
“Child stars who are now ready to do adult films,” he said.
He went on to poke fun at growing up filming for Stranger Things while going through puberty, joking about how his first kiss and even his voice change happened on screen. The antics continued when he decided to try whiskey on screen and ended up spitting it all over Marcello Hernández.
The monologue was soon interrupted by his Stranger Things co-stars and close friends Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin, turning the moment into a mini reunion. As the trio kept the jokes rolling, fans on social media were thrilled to see them together again. Apart from his SNL appearance, Wolfhard has continued to expand his career, releasing his first solo album, 'Happy Birthday', in June 2025.
He also recently directed the 50th anniversary music video for George Harrison’s 'Give Me Love.' And apart from that, he is also rumored to star in an IT project.
Finn Wolfhard talks about a potential IT project
After his brief photo cameo in the IT: Welcome to Derry season 1 finale, Finn Wolfhard has hinted that his connection to the IT franchise is not over. This cameo seemed to tie him up for a prequel series. Now, in an interview with Esquire, Wolfhard confirmed that creators Barbara and Andy Muschietti had told him years ago that he might be involved in the project in some capacity.
“Barbara and Andy Muschietti both told me, “You’re involved.” Yeah, I’m connected. I think there’s something else that will come up eventually that I’m excited for people to see,” he said.

The finale of IT: Welcome to Derry revealed that Pennywise does not experience time linearly and is aware of the events that led to his defeat in IT: Chapter Two. The series suggests the entity is moving backward through time in an attempt to change the future by preventing the Losers’ Club from ever coming together.
While there is nothing confirmed as of now, there is hope for characters like Richie to reappear. So, despite joking about wanting to be in adult movies, Wolfhard could return for an IT project.
