Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey (2026) arrived in theatres, and moviegoers instantly drew comparisons between Charlize Theron’s grounded version of Calypso and Naomie Harris’s iconic performance in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007). Fans quickly took to social media to debate which portrayal of the mythical sea figure left a more permanent footprint on pop culture, taking the side of Harris’s version.

A post on X by The Cine Prism presents a side-by-side image comparing Calypso's depiction in both films. Charlize Theron’s Calypso, shown in the 2026 film, acts as a calculated therapist using lotus flowers to numb trauma, whereas Naomie Harris’s version is a volatile, heartbreak-driven entity seeking freedom from mortal bonds.

Harris showcases supernatural might by transforming into a giant, breaking into thousands of crabs, and summoning a massive ocean maelstrom. 2026 version, Calypso systematically fades Odysseus’s memories to keep him dependent on her. 2007 version strikes dangerous deals with pirate lords to shatter her human constraints.
