When Blade Runner 2049 hit theaters in 2017, it was met with mixed commercial response and divided audience reactions, with many critics calling it a visually stunning but slow-paced sequel to Harrison Ford’s 1982 cult classic Blade Runner. Over time, however, the film’s reputation softened, and it gained a passionate following who came to see its haunting tone and philosophical depth as a worthy extension of the original.
Today, both the Ridley Scott number are regarded as under-appreciated gems in the sci-fi canon, and now, the very same is returning in a completely new form.

Fans of Harrison Ford’s cult classic Blade Runner now have a fresh reason to revisit its neon-lit universe through an immersive project titled Blade Runner 2049. Rather than functioning as a passive exhibition, the experience is designed as a fully interactive environment. Visitors will move through a living, breathing version of dystopian Los Angeles, as per Collider.
Developed by Behaviour Interactive and PHI Studio in collaboration with Alcon Entertainment, the project bridges the timeline between the 1982 film and its 30-year forward set 2017 sequel. The experience leans heavily into the franchise’s core ideas about identity and artificial life. Advanced visual projections and spatial audio are expected to heighten immersion.
Interactive elements will allow visitors to feel like participants rather than observers. Set to debut across multiple North American cities in 2027, the experience is built to attract both longtime fans and newcomers. Those who grew up with Deckard will find familiar themes and imagery. Younger audiences may discover the franchise through this hands-on format.
As the franchise expands beyond cinema, its iconic, and very first lead is also making moves in an entirely different space.
Harrison Ford steps into whisky with a limited-edition release
Harrison Ford has taken his whisky enthusiasm further by co-creating a special single malt with Glenmorangie. The release, titled Glenmorangie Harrison Ford Limited Edition, marks his first major collaboration with the Highland distillery. Ford worked closely with Dr. Bill Lumsden, the brand’s Director of Whisky Creation, to select the final blend from a range of casks.

The whisky begins with bourbon-cask-aged Glenmorangie and is enhanced with a rare expression finished in toasted Portuguese red-wine casks. This process gives it a layered profile, featuring notes of candied orange peel, apricot, and buttery sweetness balanced by muscovado sugar.
For Ford, the collaboration offered insight into the craftsmanship behind whisky making, which he described as deeply rewarding. Lumsden noted that the final product reflects both Glenmorangie’s signature elegance and Ford’s preference for complexity. This happens to be the same complexity that aided him in embodying the intricacy of the now returning Blade Runner franchise.
