While this casting rumor about Radcliffe is not true, HBO has been actively adding actors to its new Harry Potter series, planned to span seven seasons, with each season adapting one of J.K. Rowling’s books. One of the actors to join the cast of the second season is Game of Thrones star Kit Harington.

Kit Harington has joined HBO’s Harry Potter series to play Gilderoy Lockhart, who will appear in Season 2. Lockhart arrives at Hogwarts as the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, but it soon becomes clear that the new professor is not quite the right person for the job. Harington replaces Nicholas Hoult, who was initially chosen for the role.

Interestingly, Harington, who has been a fan of the books since he was young, also lent his voice to Lockhart in an audiobook adaptation of the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, last year.
