Fact Check: Marvel Removing 'Ironheart' Series From Disney+? How True Is the Rumor?

Ironheart, which officially concluded Phase Five of the MCU, finds itself surrounded by rumors of withdrawal and slander. Recent speculations indicate that Marvel's miniseries might be deleted from Disney+ for good.

Marvel's ambitious addition to its team of younger superheroes met Riri Williams in Ironheart, which follows the events of the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Though the series initially earned mixed reviews, it continued to prove worthy of a binge, and now it all stands in contention.

Disney+ removing the Ironheart series from its streaming platform is completely untrue, as the series is still fully accessible on the service where it first aired. Rumors of its cancellation and removal originated from unauthenticated posts on by the account MCU Source on X, which claimed the show to be a commercial failure for Marvel.

The six-part MCU series, featuring Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, arrived on June 24, 2025. Disney+ is the only streaming platform where Ironheart Season 1 is available for streaming in the United States and most countries. Rumor has it that the show proved to be a major financial disaster for MCU; however, such speculations are not backed by ample analytics.

Marvel and Disney have not made any public announcements stating that the company is planning to remove Ironheart from Disney+. The show has always been considered part of the MCU's official lineup along with WandaVision, Loki, and more.

Since the streaming rights belong to Disney+, the show is not part of the official release on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. A Disney+ subscription allows viewers to watch all six episodes of Ironheart, which serves as a direct sequel to Riri Williams' experiences in Wakanda Forever, introducing several unsolved ethical arguments to the Marvel Universe.

What to expect from Ironheart? Is there a Season 2?

Ironheart plot revolves around Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams, a brilliant inventor previously seen in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, who is creating her own suit and engaging in fights with such characters as Parker Robbins/The Hood. It presents a collision of technology and sorcery, thus giving a new perspective to the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+.

One of the most compelling narrative beats of the show is the live-action debut of Mephisto, played by Sacha Baron Cohen in the finale, which potentially could lead to developments for more MCU projects in the future. Meanwhile, the show stars Dominique Thorne, Lyric Ross, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, Anji White, Jim Rash, Eric André, Anthony Ramos, and more.

Despite its potential, quick pace, and more stories to be told, Marvel has not yet said a word on proceeding with a second season of Ironheart. In an interview with Direct, Thorne denied having heard of the possibility of Ironheart season 2, stating, "No, no. Not yet."

However, all hope is not lost until the genius girl with her arc reactor for a heart does not show up, even for a split second, in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars. Meanwhile, Marvel fans are welcome to continue streaming Ironheart on Disney+ regardless of the rumors.
